Today Martin starts drinking the revolting stuff that flushes out more revolting stuff so they can stick tubes in and have a good look inside him! He is working, despite the fact that he is fasting and drinking to flush himself clean. No wonder his body is screaming at him - the man never stops! I think I need to find our new tent dwellings quickly!!
My day plods along slowly, again. It is mainly spent cleaning up in excitement for my sister's arrival tonight!
Martin gets home 2 hours later than anticipated - which means he is starting his special drink a lot later than he is meant to. The dr was worried about how his gut is going to go with the flush out drink. He thinks that given Martin's symptoms and potential condition that he will have a lot of pain and trouble. He is suppose to drink it slowly - not in the recommended 3 hours. Problem is - he is already starting it 2 hours late! The stuff tastes worst that the stuff your body is trying to get rid of! To make matters worse you have to drink 3L of it!! Have you ever sat down and attempted to drink 3Ls in a 3 hour period? It's not an easy task, even without the flavoring of a bowel prep!!
Our friend Peter came around tonight before dinner. He brought his lovely wife Marianne, so it was nice to meet her! She is a palliative care nurse, and while I hope we never have to see her professionally it is nice to know there is someone close that can answer any questions/concerns we may have. I feel blessed that God is given us some close companions through it all.
I had to leave him tonight to go to practice for Hip Hop Twist. He seemed comfortable with his big drink bottle and the toilet seat! I have to admit my mind was not really connected to the practice tonight and I am beginning to wonder if any of it will come together. After a couple of run throughs I excuse myself and the kids - I need to be home with Martin. I want to be there with him and spend time with him before he goes into hospital tomorrow.
Sara and John arrived down while I was at practice. It is so good to see her! I was already feeling better!! Martin was not even half way through his drink - that's 3.5 hours and still not even half way!! Time to put my tough face on and make him drink!! I tell him stories of people not flushing themselves out enough and needing to do the whole thing all over again!
We had a lovely night with Sara and John, laughed, watched Martin go to the toilet a lot, and fell into bed at midnight. I am telling myself that Martin is just having a routine procedure tomorrow - both things that I have had to have done - and trying to disassociate that his results are potentially going to be very different to mine!
